Drag Racing
The VWDRC was formed way back in 1988 on the back of the First Annual Bug Jam and is still going strong. The club boasts three classes... VW Pro (Sponsored by VW Speedshop) for VW-engined cars running 12.99 or quicker, VW Sportsman (Sponsored by Beetlemania) for VW-engined cars running 13.00 or slower and VW Alternate Engine (Sponsored by AMR Motors and The Intergalactic Custom Shop) for VWs with alternate engines, usually Subaru or Porsche. All three classes operate on a 'dial-your-own index' basis allowing all cars, quick and not-so-quick, to compete on a level playing field, whilst still being able to run as quick as budget (and bottle) will allow. VWDRC Qualifications and Eliminations take place on Sunday 29th April with practice sessions on the Saturday.
Big Bang will also be a championship round for the hot rods of Super Modified, Street Eliminator and Outlaw Anglia, along with 9.50 Bike, and new for 2008 Sportsman ET and Junior Dragster will also be running.

Outlaw Anglia
Heads up racing from the old-timer style Ford Anglias. Doorslammer

but few rider aids mean that real skill is needed to run the numbers. |
